Position Summary:
The Contents Restoration Technician is responsible for packing out, transporting, cleaning, deodorizing, and returning personal property and inventory from homes and businesses affected by fire, smoke, and water damage. This role works both on job sites and in our warehouse, ensuring that customers’ belongings are handled with care, accurately documented, and restored to pre-loss condition whenever possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site contents pack outs after fire and water losses, including careful inventory, labeling, and documentation of customer belongings using paper or digital systems.
- Wrap, pad, and protect furniture and personal items to prevent damage during transport and storage.
- Load, transport, and unload contents to and from the warehouse; place items into vaults/shelves and maintain organized storage areas.
- Clean, deodorize, and restore a wide variety of contents (furniture, electronics, household items, décor, clothing, etc.) affected by fire, smoke, and water, using appropriate chemicals, equipment, and methods.
- Assist with structure cleaning as needed, including wiping walls, ceilings, cabinets, and fixtures after fire or water damage.
- Identify and separate salvageable vs. non-salvageable items; photograph and document non-restorable items as required for insurance.
- Prepare restored contents for return (pack-back), including repacking, labeling, staging, and placement back into the home or business.
- Follow all safety, cleaning, and documentation protocols, including proper use of PPE and restoration equipment (ozone, deodorization, drying, etc.).
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with customers who may be under significant stress, explaining processes and setting expectations.
- Work closely with project managers and field technicians to support overall fire and water mitigation efforts, including occasional assistance with demolition or on-site mitigation tasks.
- Maintain clean company vehicles, tools, and work areas, and report equipment or vehicle issues promptly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Drivers License is preferred.
- Ability to lift 25-45 lbs regularly, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced, physical environment.
- Comfortable working in homes and buildings that have experienced fire, smoke, or water damage, including occasional after-hours or on-call work for emergencies.
- Strong attention to detail, especially with inventory, labeling, and documentation.
- Professional, customer-service mindset with the ability to work respectfully in occupied homes and businesses.
- Basic technology skills (smartphone/tablet) to use contents and photo inventory software..
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time position; typical schedule Monday–Friday with occasional evenings and weekends for emergency calls as needed.
